There Is a World After Bitcoin for Blockchain. And It Isn’t Another Crypto.
Bitcoin is not as new as you think.
The cryptocurrency has been around for almost 12 years. In these last few years, it has been made extremely profitable with the help of blockchain technology. However, blockchain can be used for much more than just crypto.
Adriana Zubieta breaks down the future of blockchain in one of the most popular forms of marketing: e-commerce.
This is what the problem is in e-comm.
Attacks. It is one of the biggest issues facing online store owners today. And it is not hard to see why. There has been a 129% year-over-year growth in e-commerce sales.
With more shopping happening online, the target is now bigger than ever for malicious attackers.
There is a solution.
Blockchain would (in theory) replace centralized third parties, like Amazon, for software on a computer network. All information on the blockchain is codified for security and cannot be changed or removed.
By using blockchain technology, store owners would be able to decentralize their stores and stack the odds in their favor. Why? Because by decentralizing their stores using blockchain, it becomes more expensive to create an attack than it is profitable to steal data or funds.
How blockchain works.
Say you’re selling a purse online. You have a number of conditions that need to be met.
- eStore offers the purse
- Buyers sends money
- eStore sends purse
- When the buyers receives the purse, the eStore receives payment
In a decentralized app, all the information is managed on the blockchain with the help of Smart Contracts (stored programs that execute when a condition is met). It would check that all the tasks have been completed. If they have, the contract is executed.
It’s already cooking.
There are already many companies already starting the development of Dapps (decentralized applications). Though the legality is still a little uncertain at the moment, the work is being done in legislation to create a clear avenue for store owners to take advantage of this tech.
What we think: There is definitely a time and a place for everything. The time for e-commerce and blockchain is coming sooner than later. Start planning out how to bring it into your business now.
